New Men and New Women for a New World. A great goal, a great mission God has entrusted to Canção Nova since the beginning of our activity.

We believe in this New World, which is the result of totally renewed men and women. We believe that only the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ is capable of transforming people into New Men and New Women, who will build that New World. A New World we have been long waiting for and which we justifiably look for with all our hearts. We are entitled to it, we have the right of looking for it.

Everything started with a document of the Church called Evangelii Nuntiandi. The bishop of Lorena, D. Antônio Afonso de Miranda, called me and said: “Father Jonas, this is a very important document. We have to evangelize because the baptized people are not evangelized. As you have been working with the youth start it with them. It will be easier.”

These were the fundamental words to Canção Nova: '”The baptized people are not evangelized. Start it with the youth. It will be easier.”


Canção Nova had a very humble start and was born little, though God soon showed us our mission: evangelizing through the media, through means of mass communication.

The document “Evangelii Nuntiandi” revealed us that the Gospel had to be spread through modern means of communication; the Gospel had to be communicated to people because God wants to act over mankind. That can only happen if people become aware of His Words.

After these 25 years of service to God in Cancao Nova, I realize that God performed much more than I could think of in the beginning. Not only do we evangelize through TV, Radio and Internet, but we also help people in need through our Social Programs in the areas of health, Education and Social Assistance.

All that has been accomplished with one single purpose: creating New Men and New Women to build a New World! God gave us a name that defines our purpose and goal: Cancao Nova, New Song. Therefore, I proudly introduce Cancao Nova to you, a New Song for your life!
